123 - From Midwife To Caesarean Recovery Expert, Speaker and Author - With Leonie Rastas

After having 6 caesareans and spending well over 30 years as a midwife,

you could say that Leonie Rastas is quite the expert on c-sections and all the things that can happen during recovery!

She never imagined herself as an author or business owner.

When most people would have simply retired, she felt a huge pull to pass her knowledge and experience to others - helping them navigate those critical weeks postpartum where she's concerned about the huge lack of education provided to new mums about on how to care for themselves - all the info provided is about caring for the baby!

So Leonie poured her heart out into her book, The C-Section Recovery Manual - years and years of personal experience, sharing the insider knowledge on the best ways to care for your scar and how to spot signs of infection or tears, and what to do about them!

In a few short months after publishing Leonie has become a leading speaker on c-section care and recovery, and is now creating online programs to support & educate caesarean mums.

She also hosts a free Facebook group providing support and advice for women on all things c-section!

About Our Guest

Leonie is known for her C-section recovery advocacy and support. 

She is a nurse, midwife, author, educator and founding director of ‘Caesarcare’, an online service business helping support women in post-C-section recovery with knowledge and skills. 

Her six children were all born by caesarean section and she experienced birth trauma and PTSD after one of her births. She has worked with thousands of C-section mothers during her forty years in clinical practice. 

 In addition, Leonie has designed a variety of medical aids, and her TGA-approved- wound splint was on the shortlist for the Innovation award at the Australian Healthcare Week Sydney in 2019. 

 Leonie’s greatest passion is working with women to enhance healing and promote flourishing especially after unexpected outcomes.
