It just shines through. Add on to that your signature offering and you have a business that you not only love, it feels fulfilling, but it's also highly profitable and easy for you to run.
Jessica Osborn [00:02:19]:
So let me introduce you to our very special guest today. This lady is an absolute gem. She is such a lovely person, a Human Design expert, but she's also a therapist and has a background in therapy. So blending the two, she's super analytical and loves to dive in, really understanding what your Human Design is saying about you. And today she's taking us on an exploration through our chart. So if you already have a chart, then you may like to have it with you, or you may want to go back and have a listen to this Again, later when you have your chart. Please stay through because the second half of the episode, she goes into quite a lot of detail around the different lines, around the connectors between your centers, and gives you the exact numbers and what it means. So you're definitely going to want to stay and listen to that second half of the episode as well.
Jessica Osborn [00:03:18]:
The first half really sets it up, and then we go into way more detail. So this is brilliant. Now, Jen is the founder of Divine Vitality. She herself guides self-aware, ambitious women to break free from burnout cycles, strengthen their boundaries, and create emotionally fulfilling relationships by aligning their unique energy and emotional truth. I will press play and introduce you to her. And here we are in the studio, and I've got the beautiful Jen Greiner with me who is from Divine Vitality.
Jessica Osborn [00:04:09]:
She's a Human Design expert, um, and we're going to be talking a whole lot about the emotional energetics today, which I am so curious to get into. But welcome, Jen. So good to have you with me today.
Jen Greiner [00:04:25]:
Thanks, Jessica. I am so excited to be here and so excited for the chat that we're about to have.
Jessica Osborn [00:04:30]:
Yeah, I think, you know, we're in business and we're doing business, but there's always so much that comes down to, you know, who you're being and how much you understand yourself that I certainly never realized in all the years that I spent as an employee in corporate, it was like, you know, you kind of treat yourself more like a— I'm going to say robot. I don't know why that word came into my brain, but it's like, I've got a task and I've got to do it. And, you know, there are all these— it was very structured. And then in entrepreneurship, it's like, wow, really? There's so much about who you are that plays into everything you're doing. So I'm really excited to pick your brains today and hear your knowledge and expertise in helping us really understand a lot about that, especially the emotional side, because I think, um, women in particular, we, we definitely have a more of a connection to that part of ourselves as well. And, um, so much value to be found here. But before we do, um, could you please explain to us all really what you actually do in your business? Um, who do you serve on a normal day?
Jen Greiner [00:05:39]:
Yeah. So I spent over a decade as a therapist, mental health and art therapist. So I love guiding individuals to seeing their blocks in the Human Design world, right? That's all of our conditioning so that they can decondition, really understand who they are to find that alignment, fulfill that purpose, find that ease, really come out of burnout and hopefully stay out of burnout.
Jessica Osborn [00:06:07]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:06:08]:
So I love guiding especially high-level high-achieving, ambitious women who own businesses to decondition and find the life that they're meant to live with that ease, especially for relationships with themselves and with their teams, with their families, friends, really everyone around them.
Jessica Osborn [00:06:31]:
Yeah. Goodness. There is a lot in there. The relationships You know, just even with yourself, right? How nice are you being to yourself? The things that you're maybe holding onto or that are just sort of sitting there in the background, like you say, finding these blocks. When we talk about blocks, 'cause I think that that word gets used a lot, you know, there's like money blocks and there's this sort of block and that kind of block. What are you really, what sort of blocks are you mostly looking for when you're working with people? And what's the difference between somebody who presents as having a block and when they don't have it anymore? What can we see in that difference?
Jen Greiner [00:07:16]:
Yeah, so a lot of times the blocks are conditioning, right? It's what society's told us we should do. It's things that we've told ourselves we can't do, or what we have to do, right? Where there's that force, that push, where it's, it's It's just hard, you know?
Jessica Osborn [00:07:35]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:07:36]:
And we can really look at it from an energetic standpoint of our shadows. Like, where are we feeling those emotions in that shadow vibration where it is a lot tougher? We're kind of consumed by the not-self. Uh, sometimes it's, it's the unconscious side of our design as well that we're not consciously aware of, but that's Working underneath the surface. So really bringing it to that awareness so that we can work with it, move from it. And once you shift out of those blocks, that's where the gifts get to come in. That's where the ease comes in, where you're in that signature theme of satisfaction, success, peace, delight, right? Where it just gets to feel so good. And you're continually like This gets to be my life? It's like, yeah, when there aren't blocks holding you back.
Jessica Osborn [00:08:33]:
Um, it's just incredible. And I, I have done a little bit of, um, work in Human Design before, or kind of explored, I would say, the surface level. I always meet Human Design experts and I think, well, I know a few very high-level things, but nothing in terms of the depth. So I'm curious to understand more about the conscious and the unconscious self. And also for anyone, you know, like myself who's really not an expert in this, how would we know whether we're experiencing blocks or that these things are in there? Because from what you're saying, it's almost like we've adopted them during our life at whatever point, probably a lot of them when we're quite young, we're told how we should be and the expectations. And we've kind of We're living our life every day and it's just normal. This is how I am, this is normal me. And that's our experience of ourselves.
Jessica Osborn [00:09:30]:
And what I'm hearing and what you're saying is, but that may not actually be the real you. It might be the conditioning that you have adopted and you put on that. And so you're feeling restricted in some way, maybe without even realizing that you're restricted. Does that make sense? Can you please explain what I'm talking about?
Jen Greiner [00:09:52]:
Yes, absolutely. Yeah, I love how you explain that because it, it, it's so real, right? We all can really relate to that, that we don't even notice what is blocking us. So that's why, right, coming from being a therapist, having a private practice, working individual counseling and therapy, uh, I love assessing. Where are you at, right?
Jessica Osborn [00:10:17]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:10:18]:
Every therapist starts with an assessment. Maybe you're aware of it, maybe not, but we are assessing like what's going on. on here, where are you at, where do you want to be? So, I loved when Human Design found me, and I was like, we have a blueprint, a roadmap to these energetics? It gets to get even easier, and we can just look at this to see, okay, what is ours? What gifts was I born blessed with in this lifetime?
Jessica Osborn [00:10:48]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:10:49]:
And am I utilizing them? Am I taking advantage of them? Or am I not aware of them or am resistant to them, which is actually pulling me into the shadow, making everything more difficult? So there are many places that we can look inside of our Human Design bodygraph, but that's why I take this more, right? I don't do your standard Human Design readings. I do more of an assessment, like, What are you utilizing that's working? What are these gifts? Do you see how that's helping you? And where are you stuck in that shadow? Because those are the blocks we need to bring to awareness. Sometimes it's as simple as that, right? Oh, this is my block. I want to do something differently. Great. But sometimes when they're unconscious, there's a bit more to be done there that can, can depending on what your challenge is in this lifetime, to really move out of those blocks.
Jessica Osborn [00:11:54]:
That's making a lot of sense. I had someone say to me once, anytime that something feels a negative emotion attached to it, like it's making you feel sad, depressed, frustrated, there's like this scale, and I can't remember exactly what was at the bottom. Shame, I think, is a big one. When you have shame on yourself, You know, they were like, those are the negative emotions. So would that mean that they're places that you look to where you might be in your shadow self? Is that, am I understanding that correctly or?
Jen Greiner [00:12:33]:
Yeah, yeah. You can definitely look at the gates that you do have, look at those shadows and see what really resonates. When I'm talking with clients, those shadow words. And intuitively, I may be guided, or that just really stands out, and I'm like, oh, that's the shadow of this gate. Let's look to see if you have that gate. Is it conscious and unconscious? Like, what is the challenge here?
Jessica Osborn [00:12:59]:
To— yeah, talk about it. Incredible. Okay, so I'm gonna get into something more specific around Human Design. And, um, if you're listening, if you've never done Human Design before, before. Um, there, you know, it's an amazing, just such an in-depth, um, what would you call it? Like a, almost like an analysis of yourself that you think, how does the universe know this about me? It's, it's insane. Um, but there is, there are the types that I think we often, people talk about most commonly because you fall into the various types. I'm a manifesting generator. Um, there's a few other ones, but you've been talking about the emotional side.
Jessica Osborn [00:13:37]:
side of it, which I'm guessing is your emotional authority. And this is a piece that I have, like, I have a knowledge. I believe mine is the solar plexus, my emotional authority. But I don't understand what that means. What are emotional authorities? What, you know, what are the different ones people have? Would I tell a difference between someone who has one like mine and someone who's not like mine? Like, I literally have no clue what that means or how it presents or shows up. So I would love for you to talk a bit about that if that's possible.
Jen Greiner [00:14:12]:
Absolutely. I'm so excited to break this down. This is what I am just so passionate about. And now is really the time to talk about this. So you may have heard, may have discussed the new paradigm coming in February 2027. We've been looking forward to it for so long. It's almost here. So with that shift, right, we're already feeling it, but there is this solar plexus mutation.
Jen Greiner [00:14:39]:
It's going to be brought to the forefront. Emotions are needing to be acknowledged, talked about, utilized. So again, it's great that Human Design lays all this out because half of the world— has an emotional authority, right? You're an emotional authority. I am also an emotional authority. I'm an emotional projector. So if you have a defined solar plexus center— and the solar plexus center is the triangle on the bottom right if you're looking at your body graph, and it'll say under authority emotional solar plexus. So that makes up half the world who ride a fixed emotional wave. So the more that we push against our emotions, try to change our emotions, attach to them, the more struggle we're going to have.
Jen Greiner [00:15:36]:
Because we are here to feel, and we feel strongly, right? We have high highs, low lows.
Jessica Osborn [00:15:44]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:15:45]:
There are 3, 4 different emotional waves that you may ride. So really looking at this to understand your emotions honor them, accept them as a part of yourself, because you need to work with them. For the other half of the world, that is not an emotional authority. So on your Human Design, under authority, it will say sacral, splenic, uh, ego, mental, outer. So, I lump those together as non-emotionals, because they all have an undefined solar plexus. They do not ride a fixed emotional wave. They are more so amplifying all the emotionals' waves. They're distorting that emotional energy and then absorbing it themselves, and it gets really confusing with what is mine and what is theirs.
Jen Greiner [00:16:44]:
Wow.
Jessica Osborn [00:16:46]:
That is so interesting because I've never heard anyone describe that before. And I'm starting to go, hmm, I think my husband is a non-emotional. But I'm pretty sure both of my kids might be emotional like me. You might be right. Anyway, I'm gonna have to look up their charts and have a look because I never knew what I was looking for before. Like, you know, when you're just looking at something, it's like there's a map here, but I don't really know how to read it. So, That is so interesting. So if we know, like, you've just sort of explained what that is, and, and obviously if you've got the emotional authority, um, it's about sort of leaning into it.
Jessica Osborn [00:17:27]:
Like, for people like myself, like, I can sometimes feel like, oh my goodness, I'm not going to be able to go to that thing because I might sit there and I take on other people's emotions. I tear up. I'm at a beautiful event, like at an award night or something, the school graduation, and I see kids up there and I'm like, oh my goodness. And I'll, you know, I'll tear up and, you know, just from excitement and joy for them. And I know that other women do the same. We always laugh and we're there trying not to look at each other because we'll set each other off. But so sometimes it can feel like a really negative thing to have this. And I know a lot of us have tried a lot over the years to squash it down, to get control of the emotions.
Jessica Osborn [00:18:15]:
So what is your take on that? What do you think that we need to know about ourselves and what we need to do so that we can actually kind of really be ourselves? You know, I think it's like that whole, you're giving away your personal power if you're actually not being authentic and true to who you are. And that causes a whole new raft of things where you're not really showing up as yourself, you're not being yourself and the impacts. I would love you to kind of chat there for a minute about what this means. How can we shift our perspective? Why would we want to do that?
Jen Greiner [00:18:58]:
Yeah.
Jessica Osborn [00:18:59]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:19:00]:
So I think it's so hard for us to accept that we are human beings and we don't really understand what this human experience means. We're all trying to get by. We're all trying to figure it out. We're all trying to really make the best of it so that we can have the best lives for ourselves, for our families. And I think it's so important for us to honor and recognize that emotions are a part of us.
Jessica Osborn [00:19:26]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:19:27]:
And I like to think of them as information, right? They are pieces within our bodies, and our bodies is where all that wisdom is, right? In Human Design, we talk about not making any decisions from the mind, from your head. It's really about from that body, from that inner authority. And that means that you have to recognize that you feel and notice what you're feeling. So just kind of accepting that emotions are information. Let me see, what are they trying to tell me? Let me not have attachment to it, right? Because our emotions change all of the time. But to really practice what we call non-attached clarity. So I want to wait for the clarity, right? Because sometimes our emotions, like, they're tricky.
Jessica Osborn [00:20:21]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:20:22]:
Understand their emotions. Like, and a lot of practice, right? Years. So to really just start to slow down, to give yourself space to see, how am I feeling? What emotions are going on within me? Do they have names? Do I want to call them something? But not attaching to them, right? Because I feel this, does not mean I am this. I feel this, and I'm human. Maybe because of this, it may be trying to tell me that, right? To just be really curious and open with it. And then from there, right, emotional authorities, we can say, okay, let me keep that in the back of my mind. I'm trying to make this big decision, and I have to wait for this clarity. I need to ride my emotional wave.
Jen Greiner [00:21:15]:
At least sleep on it and wait till there's that clarity. And for the non-emotionals, it's really about, is this emotion mine? Okay, great, let me honor that and know that I have that. Or is that emotion not mine? It's something else that I've picked up from those around me, and I need to let that go.
Jessica Osborn [00:21:36]:
Okay, so people who don't have an emotional authority, um, they are picking up more often emotions from other people or feeling things, and that can be the confusing. Is that what I'm understanding correctly?
Jen Greiner [00:21:53]:
Yeah, so going back to what we were talking before about blocks, right? Our undefined centers, those centers within our chart, those shapes that are white, they're undefined. So we don't have fixed reliable energy in those spaces. So that's where we can hold a lot of conditioning. That's where a lot of our blocks can be. So if you have an undefined solar plexus, you really need to let that emotional energy flow through. But nobody talks about this, right?
Jessica Osborn [00:22:27]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:22:27]:
So nobody knows what to do or what that feels like. So it's really understanding how Do your, specifically, your emotional energetics work. And is this something to honor and utilize, or is it something that you need to keep in flow, you need to keep checking in with, to let go of what's not yours, but honor that you still have emotions?
Jessica Osborn [00:22:56]:
Yeah, yeah, that makes so much sense. And, you know, when you said even just letting something go overnight so that you can actually ride through, you know, the emotional, um, part of the decision, you know, and get the clarity. I've always been that person, like, where I, I just need time and space to make a decision and find it difficult. And, and this is where I think in business especially, people can feel so conflicted, because how often do you meet somebody who's potentially a sales expert or a trainer, and they're like, you know, get them to make a decision. If they're not making a decision, it means that there's something there. And I've always felt like, well, I get that. And maybe for some people there is, but at other times, I'm someone that I really, I sometimes just need space. I need the time for the filtering to happen and for me to then really feel like, yes, I'm on board with this.
Jessica Osborn [00:23:53]:
And often if I've made a decision too quickly, like, and I just haven't Yeah. Given that bit of space, it does feel wrong. And so how would we be able to recognize somebody? Like, what can we, by listening and, and sort of tuning in or looking for signs, could we recognize what someone is without reading their Human Design chart? Because it's very unlikely you meet someone, you go, hey, how are you? Could I have a look at your chart? I need to figure out a bit about who you are, and now I know what I'm looking for. Um, are there any signs, um, or anything like that we could recognize that person so you sort of know what is a good approach to take with them?
Jen Greiner [00:24:37]:
That's a great question. And for me, right, I, I really see things because I'm a projector. I'm clinically trained for so many years. I've been utilizing this energetic assessment with Human Design for, gosh, like 6 years now. So there are things that I can see and I pick up on, like, ooh, I think that's a collective wave crashing right there. They're an emotional with that type of wave. But for someone who's not well-versed in Human Design, I think it can be really tricky for, for a few reasons. One, because of the conditioning, right? We're told that we're supposed to feel different ways, or many people are told that they're not supposed to feel.
Jessica Osborn [00:25:24]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:25:24]:
Right? So it can be hard to discern what is conditioning or what is an emotional who is at the high of their high on their wave, those high emotions, and then on the low of their wave emotions.
Jessica Osborn [00:25:42]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:25:42]:
So I, I think overall, it's really a great practice to check in in the moment And say, okay, let's check back in tomorrow to make sure, right? So many of us are like, what's the answer now? I'm gonna hold you to it. Yet, I mean, there's the heart center in, in Human Design that 70% of people like can't follow through. So that doesn't help with this. But, um, just giving people the space to change their minds, right? We're, we're allowed to flow through our emotions, whether you're emotional. Or not. But, uh, I mean, this is why I asked for— Yeah, it kind of gives you the blueprint, right? Then I know, because when I am on calls with emotional authorities, I say, I do not want an answer right now. Save your breath. Let's check in tomorrow or later this week to see what Clarity comes about, because I don't want them regretting.
Jen Greiner [00:26:49]:
And also, I—
Jessica Osborn [00:26:50]:
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. And that's the thing that I've tended to treat most people like me, just sort of thinking, well, of course, why would you not want a bit of space and time to make a decision? And sometimes it shocks me when someone goes, well, I'm ready now. And I'm like, whoa, okay. I almost go, all right, let me send you the link if you wanna do this right now. that's fine. But, you know, I've never been the person pushing that because it would feel wrong to me if someone was treating me that way. So I've never done it.
Jessica Osborn [00:27:21]:
But it's so interesting to now realize that's probably, you know, maybe a decent chunk of the population. Did you say about half are emotional and half are not?
Jen Greiner [00:27:31]:
Yes.
Jessica Osborn [00:27:31]:
So that's really interesting information now that I'm like, hmm, okay. Now I'm gonna be looking for potentially some other signs. You know, I've done a lot of work with people and understand how to assess various things and any blocks that they might have, which might just be different. It might not be their emotional authority. It might be that they're just, you know, there's something else there. There's something that happened in the past. Maybe they made a bad decision in the past. They don't wanna make another one.
Jessica Osborn [00:28:01]:
Maybe there's more information. Maybe there's somebody else that they're considering, you know, their husbands or wives, opinion and all that kind of stuff. So it's a good thing to understand, I think, because, you know, everybody in those situations, we always feel like you want a good outcome, you want a good outcome for everybody. And if a yes should be a win-win, right, for all parties. And it's like, how do you best guide that in a way that, you know, ultimately just is is a win-win. It's not about just making a sale for the point of it. It's actually like, is this a really good fit for both parties? And, and how can you help someone if they're struggling to make a decision? You know, that's maybe it is the right thing and they're just struggling to make a decision. So, um, this is another element now to think about.
Jessica Osborn [00:28:56]:
Are they someone who needs to take a bit of time?
Jen Greiner [00:29:01]:
Right? And I think you brought up a great point just before, that as emotional authorities, right, again, half of the world, we, because we ride our fixed emotional waves, we're kind of naive that other people would feel differently. Like, I'll never forget when this dawned on me while I was in a session with a client years ago and being like, in my mind, like, well, of course you would feel this way, you know? Like, well, if that happened to me, I would feel this way, so of course that would be your emotional response. And as the client is telling me, like, I'm shocked because I'm like, well, I never expected that. You— that was your response? That's how you felt?
Jessica Osborn [00:29:43]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:29:44]:
And then when I could, you know, have Human Design and have this client's chart, I was like, oh, they're a non-emotional. And of course, I'm assuming that everyone's gonna feel this way. So how can I kind of like step back from myself, recognize that many people respond differently, right?
Jessica Osborn [00:30:04]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:30:04]:
We're all unique. So how can I catch myself from assuming that other people will experience or feel or respond in a certain way that I might expect? expect to, just to have that kind of zoomed out, broadened perspective and allow whatever they need.
Jessica Osborn [00:30:27]:
Yeah. Yeah. And it's that open-minded and curiosity where instead of us projecting our own experience or how we would think or how we would respond to others, it's more being able to sit back and have that and almost be an observer and looking to see, like, are they experiencing the same way as I would or in a different way? And I think this is, you know, like we're starting, I think, as a whole human race to become so much more aware of this stuff and be more intelligent around our emotions. And it's, I believe, one of the highest-ranked skill, I don't know if you call it a skill, but something that— Businesses are like, they need people with emotional intelligence leading because we've discovered just how important that is. I'm curious to hear from you as well. With the whole Human Design, obviously this emotional part of it is just one tiny element. What are the other really key significant elements that you would say these are like your main guides?
Jen Greiner [00:31:40]:
Yeah.
Jessica Osborn [00:31:40]:
—that you look for that are really— I'm not going to say useful because I think the whole thing is useful. But in my experience, it's like there's a lot in there, so it can take a long time to even really understand yourself and your own chart. But I think that there's so much that you can use even at a level where you might be a beginner. You might start to learn a bit about it, and understanding this is has been so helpful today with the emotional aspects. What other, you know, is there something that links really well to this emotional energetics that you think they go together? Like, would you say, for example, you know, manifestors, generators, you know, when you match that with the emotional, then you can understand something deeper about them? Or I don't know.
Jen Greiner [00:32:33]:
Yeah, there's so many ways to look at it. You can look at it with what defines the solar plexus. Where is that channel? Is it from the solar plexus down to the root so that you're a bit more grounded in your emotions and have the pressure to, to feel, really?
Jessica Osborn [00:32:53]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:32:54]:
Or is that solar plexus defined with the sacral? Because that is a very different experience. for those emotional generators and manifesting generators that have that wave, that connection. And then connecting the solar plexus up to the heart. Now that is a very strong individual who needs the community around them. You know, I would— I guess I can say I would assume that they would have a close family because that's what they're driven to do. They feel, they follow through, they are there for their family. And an emotional manifestor, or perhaps manifesting generator, would really be expressing their emotions. Those are the ones who are here, like, emotional intelligence.
Jen Greiner [00:33:42]:
They can share their emotions.
Jessica Osborn [00:33:44]:
Mhmm.
Jen Greiner [00:33:44]:
They are going to initiate based on their emotions. So depending where that flow of energy There's a whole different vibe to that emotional being.
Jessica Osborn [00:33:59]:
Right. And this may be a really stupid question because I, as I said, I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to Human Design. But is there a way, like when you're looking at a chart, that you can see which way the energy flows? Like you just mentioned how it flows. So there's a, from what I'm understanding, between the, the centers, there might be a defined line that goes between them. Can you— is it— does the energy flow both ways through that definition, or is it going one way from heart to solar plexus, or from solar plexus to heart, for example?
Jen Greiner [00:34:37]:
Yeah. Oh, I love that question. It goes both ways. It really is the movement. And this is where we can almost bring that knowledge consciously To say, oh, my energy flows so easily one way. How can I work to make it move the other way, or just be aware of it, or consciously move that energy so that I can utilize all the gifts within those 2 defined centers and that channel? Because there is so much consistent energy within that, that you are here to— share. So especially, you know, bringing it into business, like, that is what you need to be utilizing in your business. Because if you are not yet, that is a superpower that you could be harnessing, and you can really do whatever and achieve that greatness with ease.
Jessica Osborn [00:35:36]:
Wow. This is like— if people listening are not already looking at their charts or thinking, how can I get a chart so I can look What have I got? And where are the, where, which are the pieces connected to which, or which centers are connected? Um, I'm just sitting here thinking it's the first thing I'm doing once we're finished is going to check mine. Um, do you have a, do you have charts that you, um, use and that people can get theirs through you? Or do you have a place that you like to send people to, to get their charts done?
Jen Greiner [00:36:11]:
I'm not partial to any place. There are so many places now that you can get your chart for free.
Jessica Osborn [00:36:18]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:36:18]:
Um, I often go to Jenna Zoe's website because the URL is super easy to remember. It's myhumandesign.com, and she makes it beautiful. She puts a bit more wording in there. So if you were to get your chart from Genetic Matrix, And you're brand new to Human Design, you would look at this thing and be like, I don't understand it. There are words here. And chances are that is where your Human Design experiment would end. So that's why I like it from Jenna Zoe's or, you know, any, anywhere else really, so that you have a little to understand what does it mean that I'm a generator? What does it mean I have this splenic authority. So just to really entice you and to urge you to dive a bit deeper to see what does this mean for you specifically.
Jessica Osborn [00:37:14]:
Yeah. I believe that I have done my chart through Jenna Zoe. I've just got a visual image of her name at the top of one. I think I've done it in a couple of places before because I forget where I had it, so I went and did it again. But I do agree. I think that that was Yeah. It's a beautiful one that would look really nice and nicely laid out. And like you say, well, I look at it and I think I've got no clue what pretty much any of this means.
Jessica Osborn [00:37:40]:
And that's where this conversation has just been so insightful. I have learned so much today, which is exciting. Is there anything that you really wanted to share with us around this whole conversation, the emotional energetics that we should definitely cover today before we wrap up? finish off? Because I'd hate to leave anything on the table that we, you know, should have discussed.
Jen Greiner [00:38:06]:
Yeah, I think, you know, just really understanding if you're emotional or non-emotional and what that means. And I mean, gosh, I feel like we can have a whole nother half-hour conversation about the emotional authorities themselves, because there is so much To understanding and honoring what it means to be an emotional authority. Because, you know, for anyone listening, like, if you stop the podcast here, you have learned a great deal.
Jessica Osborn [00:38:33]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:38:33]:
You have so much to go with. But there is so many more layers as to which wave do you ride? Do you have 2 or 3 or, oh my goodness, all 4 waves? Like, that's a lot of emotional energy to be aware of.
Jessica Osborn [00:38:50]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:38:51]:
So I think a lot of it comes down to, to the awareness that we are going to move along our wave energetically, whether we want to or not. We can be really indecisive because of that, which can be hard in our society where it's like, you have to make a decision. And it's like, well, then it's gonna be no. But so many of us can't say no. So how to honor that, how to practice saying, let me get back to you.
Jessica Osborn [00:39:22]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:39:22]:
Can I let you know tomorrow? Any of those things. Um, and really, you know, it, it took me probably a good 5 years to really feel what my emotional clarity is.
Jessica Osborn [00:39:39]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:39:39]:
To really know what a hell yes means for me. Because honestly, it's really rare that I get to have that because I am so wishy-washy. I am indecisive. I can go this way or that way. You know, what is the pressure here?
Jessica Osborn [00:39:57]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:39:57]:
Um, but when you honor how we as emotional authorities are created to make aligned decisions, It kind of rocks the foundation that you've found thus far in your life, honestly.
Jessica Osborn [00:40:14]:
Yeah, well, okay, I would love to chat a little bit more about that if you're open to, and you still got some time with us, because I think this is really important. A lot of people have trouble making decisions or feel like they're indecisive. You probably criticize yourself for it. You know, the old inner critic. Maybe other people have said, you know, you just need I need to be better at making decisions. And yeah, it can feel like it's something wrong with you, but I'm hearing you there and I'm thinking, well, no, that's actually just your type. Could you touch on the different types of emotional authorities? You know, you said that there are those differences and that's something that's really important to understand. You did mention Before, uh, you know, there was some pathways between the other centers.
Jessica Osborn [00:41:08]:
But yeah, even just explaining a little bit more about that, I think, would be super beneficial for anyone who's listening.
Jen Greiner [00:41:17]:
Yeah, so when you look at your chart, we want to look at the channel, that line that is fully colored in that goes from the solar plexus somewhere else. It could go into the sacral. That is one wave. It's called the source wave. It's really gradual, slow, steady. This can be really challenging because you're a generator, a manifesting generator, so you want to make decisions in the moment. You are listening to your sacral. If you've explored Human Design, you're like, I'm responding, my sacral says this.
Jen Greiner [00:42:01]:
But you're actually an emotional authority, and it's so great to work with that sacral response. But how can you challenge yourself to pause and wait for that clarity at least 24 hours to make sure that it's still a yes the next day? Because it is so gradual and subtle.
Jessica Osborn [00:42:21]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:42:22]:
Really one type of—
Jessica Osborn [00:42:24]:
so would that present as somebody who has ideas and is like typically good at just going, bang, I'm gonna do that and starting it? And then maybe in the next day, a couple of days later, the fire's gone and they're like, oh, I'm not really sure if I do wanna do that anymore. Is that how it shows up or is that something else entirely?
Jen Greiner [00:42:47]:
It certainly could be that. There could be other aspects contributing to that. But yes, they could really be gung-ho in the moment. And really, this goes for any emotional, right? Because we could be on the high of our wave, and we could just be lit up by somebody else and just be like, yes. And then 12 hours later, even when we move away from that point, we could be like, oh, why did I even think that? Right?
Jessica Osborn [00:43:15]:
Yeah. It's like, that is like, it is kind of a good idea, but is it really as good an idea as it felt in the moment? And, um, yeah, I put up my hand and say that's definitely happened to me before.
Jen Greiner [00:43:30]:
Yes, me too, because I'm on the, the next wave, you could say. So this is for the channel that, um, it's the 1949 channel that connects the solar plexus to the root, and for the 37/40 channel that goes from the solar plexus to the heart. So, if you have either of those defined, you will ride what we call the tribal wave. And holy moly, is it an experience, because it's high, it's low, it's high again, and low, and it's building over and over until you get to such a very high point.
Jessica Osborn [00:44:14]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:44:15]:
And then it's what we call a ratchet, and you just plummet down. But unlike, um, another wave we'll, we'll talk about at the end, you're down there for a little while. You don't come right back up. You're kind of like, oh my God, you know, this is where the negative self-talk can come in. I'm depressed. I'm melancholic. I'm a terrible person. Right? You just kind of have to stay down there.
Jen Greiner [00:44:40]:
And that's where the attachment can kind of bite you in the behind because you're like, I feel terrible, I therefore am this, that, and the other thing. And it's so hard to let go from all that we define ourselves in, in that low point. So it's, it's a challenging one. Um, this is definitely one where you've likely experienced emotional tantrums.
Jessica Osborn [00:45:06]:
Right. Okay. So this is where the line between the centers is defined, is that right? But the, the actual root or the heart may not be, or would they also be defined?
Jen Greiner [00:45:22]:
It could be either and both. Everybody's so unique. So I have seen someone have both of these tribal channels. So that energy is really strong, but you can just I just have the 1949 channel, so that creates this wave for me.
Jessica Osborn [00:45:42]:
So cool. I think, okay, let's move on. And I'm sure whoever's listening, if you don't have your chart, then you're going to come back and have another listen to this episode. You're just giving us such a great insight here. So please continue, Jenn.
Jen Greiner [00:46:00]:
Yeah. So the next set of channels So they're kind of in the middle. If you're familiar with circuitry in Human Design, this is, you know, where this comes from. So if you have the channel from the root to the solar plexus of the 3955, that is on the individual wave. And if you are an emotional manifestor or manifesting generator and have the 2212 channel going from solar plexus up to the root, you ride this individual wave. And this one can be subtle, and the more that I've become aware of it in my friends, the more it, it makes me giggle. Because you're cool, calm, and collected, like you are just at your baseline, you know, you, you are who you are, and then all of a sudden you spike up and you're like, just have this little outburst of like, this is the best thing! thing in this world. I am so happy.
Jen Greiner [00:46:59]:
I am so excited, right? All that joy is up there. And then within like 30 seconds to a minute, you're back to your baseline and you're not there until the opposite happens and you plummet down and you have a little negative outburst and you're like, this is the worst thing in the world. I can't believe this. But then you come back right to your baseline. So it's really fun—
Jessica Osborn [00:47:23]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:47:24]:
For me to witness. In others, because I see, okay, there's your high, okay, there's your low. Oh, did you gain some clarity in that? So just noticing that spike can be really helpful for those individuals to say, okay, that's the high, that's the low, where is my in-between?
Jessica Osborn [00:47:46]:
And so it's a difference between the one you just explained before and this one, that this is like a spike, like literally it's so quick. It happens and then it's over and then they're kind of back to normal, whereas the other one are longer waves, like longer duration waves. Is that, am I getting the difference between them?
Jen Greiner [00:48:06]:
I love that distinction. Yes, this individual wave spikes short, like it is a point. You hit that top and you come back down. Where the wave we talked about before, the tribal wave, you go up and slowly you're at the top, You stay there, then you start to go back down. So it is a bit slower and more gradual, subtle movements in those emotional dynamics.
Jessica Osborn [00:48:34]:
Now, I've got a very random question I'm gonna ask just while we're on this, because, and I don't know if there's any relevance at all, but anyway, let's ask it. So people who study the feminine energy our cycle, obviously, and then how that presents have shown the pattern that there are times of the month where you'll feel like basically I'm going to quit. I'm just going to stop this business. Everything's terrible. And then you ride back up into your follicular phase and then you're like, woo, everything's amazing. And you're like really great at, you know, you've got a totally different outlook. And then I'm not the expert here, so I just kind of know gradually of the, you know, vaguely of the phases. I think there's one where you're a bit more internal and you'll, you know, be really good at doing some process type of work and that sort of thing.
Jessica Osborn [00:49:29]:
Is there any connection between these at all? Like, or are they totally different? Because would someone confuse the low of that's the cycle low with the low of the— Emotional wave low?
Jen Greiner [00:49:49]:
Oh, I love this question so much. Um, so I first want to start by saying that everything is connected, right? So when we're in the emotions of our feminine moon cycle, right, that's, that's to be honored and looked at. That's why I've created a whole membership about understanding the different cycles and knowing where are you, what is going on, what is your hierarchy, what is kind of happening above others, you could say.
Jessica Osborn [00:50:21]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:50:21]:
So, yeah, Raye, I love how you described the phases. You're kind of in these phases for about a week, and then you move on. Whereas with the emotional, you're there for An hour. Usually it's about 12 hours, I've found, but from a high to a low. That's why we really want ideally 24 hours to experience the high and the low and have a little more clarity from that. So it happens, um, more cyclical daily rather than monthly.
Jessica Osborn [00:51:00]:
Yes. Perfect. Okay, so then we're gonna know if you're experiencing that for a longer period of time, then it's probably more to do with the moon cycle rather than what we're talking about here with the emotional cycles. This is really good. So you'd be able to recognize potentially a wave within a wave. I'm like, I'm layering them all on top of each other inside my brain at the moment.
Jen Greiner [00:51:25]:
Right, and that's why it can really help, right, us as women that have all of these cycles going on at once, because chances are we're affected by the moon as well in a different way. So to know what is going on, to be on the lookout, what do I need to pay attention to, right?
Jessica Osborn [00:51:43]:
There's so much to be aware of. Yeah. And then we'll just throw perimenopause into it all. And who knows what the cycle actually is or what stage you're at, but you can maybe judge it based on how long it's going to be going on for. Oh my goodness. Yeah, okay, continue. Sorry for that little deviation there. I was— I'm really curious and I like to, um, kind of get things clear in my mind.
Jessica Osborn [00:52:05]:
So thank you for that.
Jen Greiner [00:52:07]:
Yeah, great distinction. So our last wave that we ride is called the collective wave, and this is those channels on the outside of the bodygraph. So, from the root to the solar plexus, it's that 41/30 channel, or from— and/or the 35/36 channel running from the solar plexus to the throat. Those all are what we call the collective wave.
Jessica Osborn [00:52:35]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:52:36]:
And that is a very kind of steep, gradual incline till you hit the top, and then you plummet right down to the bottom. The very bottom. And then, right away, you start to move back up. So, what I've found in clients that I've worked with, with this Wave, is they're typically only aware of that crash, right? They think they're cool, calm, and collected, but I can witness that they're steadily feeling better. They're like, wow! Life is improving! I'm feeling happy! This is a great time! Day till they hit that top. And like I said, they go straight down. Typically, when, when you go down, it's a release. So this is where a client might burst out into tears and just really let it all out there for like 5 or 10 minutes.
Jen Greiner [00:53:34]:
Then they're on the bottom. And if they give themselves permission, that non-attachment to trust— there's a lot of trust in these That they will move back up, that's when they start drying their tears. They say, I'm feeling a lot better. Okay, I'm okay. And that continues to happen.
Jessica Osborn [00:53:57]:
Love it. So the, I guess the big takeaway is that, you know, if you're feeling these highs and lows, whether they're the short, sharp ones, the gradual one, or, you know, the sort of more regular one, the low is going to be over. It may be over really quickly. It might be minutes. It might be an hour. It might, maybe a little bit longer. But, you know, I think that that's always something we can hold onto in those moments where you might be thinking, I've just got to quit. Or, you know, the disastrous feelings and thoughts are coming in that it's like, hey, I'm just feeling this right now.
Jessica Osborn [00:54:31]:
Maybe I should just pause and stop and go do something different. Go for a walk, make your body feel good. That could even, I guess, help help you to rise out of it, right? So yeah, I've got a question because I know if someone's looking at their chart, maybe they're gonna be potentially thinking, well, I've got more than one of these different types. So the tribal, you said tribal, individual, and collective, are they the 3? Did I— haven't missed one?
Jen Greiner [00:55:05]:
And then there's that little source wave from the sacral The solar plexus. Yes, it, it, it is a different wave. It functions very differently from the other 3. And yes, you can have—
Jessica Osborn [00:55:18]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:55:19]:
And that's where a challenge lies. Um, it's definitely an interesting incarnation, you know, purpose to be here in this life to really honor your feelings. Um, but that Typically, and especially if you have 3 waves, society will tell you that there is something wrong with you. If you go to a therapist, you will receive diagnoses that may be attached for a long time. So the challenge, if, if you are someone with multiple waves, the challenge is to start noticing, which am I on?
Jessica Osborn [00:55:59]:
Mm-hmm.
Jen Greiner [00:55:59]:
What is happening right now? What are the triggers? That might move me along my wave? Or what are the situations that I'm noticing where that wave, right, that hierarchy, that wave is kind of taking precedence? So, there's a lot more need for awareness, compassion within those waves to really honor your emotional energetics, but really give you permission to be you. Knowing that there is nothing wrong with you. And the more that you can just observe, the easier it can be to move through them.
Jessica Osborn [00:56:40]:
Yeah, like that, just compassion, right? That word really stood out to me, to have compassion for yourself and be like, it's okay. This is just normal. It's part of the journey. It's part of whatever's happening right now. Do you have any specific Um, tools or techniques or things that you recommend people do, especially if they find that their lows are debilitating in some way or that, you know, they're really affecting them in a way that, um, you know, feels more catastrophic to them? Like, is there anything that you recommend people do if they're in that situation?
Jen Greiner [00:57:18]:
Yeah. So really, I think it comes down to nourishment, you know, I've started really checking in with myself. What do I need in this moment? And really honoring what the answer is. Sometimes it's a piece of chocolate. Sometimes it's a hug. Sometimes it's curling up in bed, right? Just really checking in with yourself. There are some different aspects to each wave. The tribal wave is really based on need, right? So that's why it's so easy to check in with myself.
Jen Greiner [00:57:49]:
What do I need? Because when I can meet that need, I move along my wave. There's an aspect of touch here too. So whether it's giving myself a hug if I'm alone, or if I'm with someone, hold hands, or ask them, you know, can you just lay on me, or can I lay on you, right?
Jessica Osborn [00:58:07]:
Yeah.
Jen Greiner [00:58:07]:
Having that aspect of touch, um, where the individual wave is really about passion. So what are you passionate about? What do you have the passion to, to see, to bring into your life, to be with? And similarly, the collective is about that desire. So what are you really desiring, longing for, so that you can really meet those— I don't want to say emotional needs, but—
Jessica Osborn [00:58:38]:
Right.
Jen Greiner [00:58:38]:
This is emotional information. This is information that our body is giving us So how can you honor that information and utilize it in the way that it's asking you to?
Jessica Osborn [00:58:51]:
That is amazing. I feel like this has been such a huge download of insight, of knowledge, of just even understanding more about yourself. Like, the amount of value that you've given us today is just incredible, Jenn. So I just really wanna say thank you. to you for that. Um, do you— where would people be able to connect with you if they wanted to learn more and they wanted to reach out and, um, maybe ask you more questions? Maybe I've left some questions on the table that I don't even know what they are. I'm sure there are many. So where could they best do that?
Jen Greiner [00:59:30]:
Yeah, so I love hanging out on Instagram. That is where you are more than welcome to message me, please. I love receiving messages. Uh, my handle on there is The Vital Jen. And then I have my website too, which is divinevitalitywithjen.com, where you can learn more. There is a way to reach out and contact me through email so that we can stay connected. And yes, happy to answer any and all questions.
