002 - How to attract the right clients and the best projects
How do we attract the right clients and the best projects? And I'm sure if you've been in business for a while, you'd know that there's a big difference between GREAT clients and just ‘clients’.
You know, they're the ones that aren’t the right fit, they can be really time-consuming, high maintenance, they can make your working life not as enjoyable as those clients that are your ideal fit.
What I see a lot of women doing, especially when we have a service-based business, is feeling obliged to take on anyone who enquires, who says they’d like to work with you.
Even if you know straight away they’re not a great fit, it seems crazy to say no to them doesn’t it? Like you’re leaving money on the table if you turn them away. Maybe you think, how can I be sure another better client is around the corner?
It feels strange to even consider turning them away. However, think about it for a moment: if you say yes to this client, you’re filling the space you could have a better client in!
So let me ask you this: if you have a great client, and get them a great result - what’s it really worth to you? A great client is far more than the number on the invoice.
It’s a great testimonial, it’s a better experience for you serving them. If you want to have a profitable, enjoyable business that you love working in every day, then you’ll need to take charge of who you say yes to!
